Just for You: PCE!

It's about to get personal...

Influencer (N)

Although I am not (yet) a famous “influencer” I will do my part to try to influence you into using a new educational acronym: PCE!

PCE stands for Personalized Continuing Education, and it is all the rage! Instead of being told what you need or should learn, you get to decide! In fact, having control over your professional development and what you are learning is “energy-giving” according to the author of "Unshakeable: 20 Ways to Enjoy Teaching Every Day No Matter What" by Angela Watson. If you are ready to energize and personalize your professional development, Learners Edge has FIVE PCE (Personalized Continuing Education) opportunities for you (am I influencing you, yet?!):

iLearn (Course 985) 3 credits

Movie

Imagine using documentaries, films, podcasts, or other non-traditional materials to ignite your students’ enthusiasm for learning! We are proud of the courses we offer at Learners Edge but, we know we don’t have a course on everything…not to worry, because we do have the iCourse! Whether you are a music teacher, an art teacher, or just want to learn a way to improve your professional practice, this is the course for you! You find the textbook you want to read, then complete the iCourse application. Click here to read our list of books teachers have used for the iCourse.

Tech Study (Course 997) 3 credits

Complete the Tech Study application with the tech tool you want to learn and earn graduate credit as you master the new-to-you tool. Need ideas? Click here.

The courses listed above are to be taken independently. Complete and submit the course application and receive approval prior to registering. Each course can be taken one time per calendar year, and two times in a lifetime. Credit comes from our regionally accredited academic partner Augustana University.

Book Study (Course 991) 3 credits

Book Heart

Find a book then find some friends! The Learners Edge Book Study is similar to the iCourse but it is to be taken by two or more people…or a whole district! Complete the Book Study application, gain approval, then gather your group to discuss your chosen text!

Credit for the Book Study comes from Augustana University or Pacific Lutheran University and can be taken one time per year and three times in a lifetime. Click here to see a list of previously approved Book Study books!

PCE is the new acronym (and is all the rage)! Try using it with your teaching colleagues and see if you can become an influencer. Then, influence your colleagues by signing up for one (or all!) of Learners Edge’s PCE courses — and REALLY influence them with your new knowledge and learning!
